Niall Morris, the winger for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club and champions of last season the Leicester Tigers has said that Geordan Murphy and Paul Burke, the new backs coaches at the club, have been instant hits among the players at Oval Park.
Burke has taken over the duties as backs coach from the departing Matt O’Connor and the Irishman Murphy will serve as his right hand man at the club after hanging up his boots as a player at the end of last season.
And with pre-season training very much underway, Morris believes that due have already made a huge impact.
He mentioned that neither Burke not Murphy are new faces at the club, they have just been given new roles before adding that the two are people who clearly know and have an idea of what they are talking about. Morris stated that when they speak, there is pin drop silence and everyone listens intently and he believes they have made quite an impact at the club already.
He added that although they are a new coaching duo at the club, the Leicester Tigers will keep playing a similar style of rugby that they played last season. He also stated that Murphy will be pushing the players hard this season and as a result, the results of the team will improve. He also added that if the weather remains kind, the club will play a decent brand of rugby, just like they did last season.
Leicester Tigers have already lost their first pre-season training match against the French Top 14 outfit Montpellier but Morris doesn’t think too much should be read into the result as it is just the beginning of pre-season and there are still lot of matches to go before the season kicks off.
